*This workshop is for children age 10-16 and require the attendance of 1 parent with the child.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Bullies thrive on fear. Take that power away. Whether you're a student, a parent, or just tired of feeling vulnerable, Hapkido turns victims into victors.
Why Bullies Bully:
Understand the possible reasons behind why bullies behave the way they do. Cultivate positive attitudes and behaviours, discovering how a resilient mindset can transform you from a victim into a victor.
De-escalation Strategies:
Exploring scenarios on avoiding physical bullying equips individuals with practical safety strategies. For example, walking away from a taunting group—leaving quickly and confidently toward a populated area—limits the bully’s chance to pursue. Mastering proactive steps like staying calm, avoiding isolation, and seeking support empowers individuals to handle potential bullying situations effectively and securely.
Practical Techniques without Violence:
Our goal is to avoid fistfights entirely. In this workshop, you’ll learn simple yet effective Hapkido techniques to handle situations like shirt grabs, hair pulls, trips, punches, and kicks. Discover how to protect yourself and escape safely — all without resorting to violence.
Support and Stand Up for Others:
Supporting and standing up for others is a vital aspect of building a compassionate and resilient community, especially in the face of bullying. It starts with small, intentional acts—offering a kind word to someone being targeted, walking alongside them to deter aggressors, or simply listening when they need to vent. It also includes reporting the behavior to a trusted authority. By showing solidarity, you not only uplift the person being bullied but also set an example of courage and empathy, encouraging others to act with integrity. In this way, supporting each other becomes a collective strength that weakens the power of bullying and fosters a culture of respect.
Who Can Attend:
This workshop is designed to equip both parents and children with practical strategies for handling physical bullying. Each participant pair must include one parent and one child. This ensures that parents can reinforce the lessons at home while also showing their support, empowering their child to handle real-world situations with confidence.
