About EULJI-KWAN HAPKIDO

Hapkido - The Martial Art of Self-Defense, encompasses a diverse array of techniques, including joint locks, grappling, throwing, strikes, and proficiency with various weapons such as short sticks, ropes, canes, and more – all strategically employed to neutralize opponents. Notably, Hapkido holds the distinguished honor of being the official martial art taught to the Korean forces and presidential bodyguards. While it's often mistaken for a blend of Judo, Aikido, and Taekwondo, authentic Hapkido is a complete and distinct martial art in its own right. Join our Hapkido self-defense school to learn authentic Hapkido.

EuljiKwan is firmly grounded and steadfast in its commitment to preserving the essence of Hapkido. We pass down only what was imparted to us in its entirety, faithfully following in the footsteps of Hapkido masters before us. We serve as the official Singapore representative for The Korea Hapkido Federation, the governing body responsible for upholding and standardizing Hapkido's practice worldwide.

THE KOREA HAPKIDO FEDERATION

The Korea Hapkido Federation is the largest organization in the world dedicated exclusively to the Korean martial art of Hapkido. Based in Seoul, South Korea, it serves as a governing body that promotes and preserves the practice of Hapkido. The organization traces its origins back to the efforts of Ji Han Jae, who founded the original Korea Hapkido Association in 1965. Over time, it evolved through mergers and leadership changes, eventually taking on its current name and structure in the 1980s.
The main Euljikwan school in Seoul boasts a rich history of Hapkido, passed down through three generations of grandmasters. The current head of Euljikwan is Grandmaster Kim Beom Chul, who also serves as the vice president of the Korea Hapkido Federation (KHF). Euljikwan Singapore is a branch of its mother school in Seoul, registered with the KHF. Euljikwan Singapore serves as the appointed representative of the KHF in Singapore, promoting the art of Hapkido while overseeing the standards and testing of Hapkido practitioners.
A KHF certificate holds a significant status in the realm of Hapkido. It represents the pinnacle of Hapkido training and knowledge, signifying the highest standard and quality within the discipline. Moreover, a KHF certificate is universally known and recognized, carrying a global reputation for its credibility and excellence in Hapkido training.
Achieving a black belt in Hapkido is a rewarding journey that requires dedication, consistent training, and mastery of the art’s techniques. Applicants need to demonstrate thorough knowledge of strikes, kicks, joint locks, and throws in accordance with the Korea Hapkido Federation (KHF) syllabus. A first-degree black belt is awarded upon passing the test.
We will evaluate the skills and knowledge of your instructors and offer any required training as necessary. If you are interested in affiliating your school with us, please get in touch with us for further details.
